JSS Retreat!

I’m sewing.  I know that’s an unusual event for this blog these days.  But I’m at Retreat!  And sewing is a must.

Apparently this year, blogging is taking second fiddle to actual quilting.  Because I left my laptop at home.  Horrors!  But I do have my new tablet along that Dear Hubby gave me for Christmas.  Have I mentioned that there’s a big learning curve for a person of my age when you get new technology?  And who has time to learn a whole new photo editor anyway?  Not this gal.  And certainly not while actually at my quilting retreat.  Hopefully I can figure out how to get a few unedited pics on here.  It could open up a whole new world for me, eh?

In the meantime, I need to tell you about The California Girls.  We have a bunch of them here this year!  And they apparently have formed their own Bee.  And have taken Mt. Calm by storm.

They even have a flag.  A quilted one!  Hey, LaLa is a part of this group.  You expected anything less than their own quilted flag?  Then you don’t know LaLa.  And word on the street has it that she just gave instructions to Sister Connie that were something like “make us a flag for our JSS West group” and then hounded encouraged her until she got it done.  By the way, left to right they are: LaLa, Vicki, Connie, Patty, Cindy & Kathy.

The back of the flag has California fabric on it.  Leave it to these California gals to find that.  And we all got some!  Late last night they came down the hall from their bedroom (where apparently really fabulous things are brewing) clapping and carrying on and handing out goodie bags to the rest of us.  With all kinds of fun goodies.

But I failed Blogging 101 last night and didn’t get a picture of them doing that.  I’ll try to to do better, really I will.  Later today I’ll attempt to remember to take a pic of the bag and describe the wonderful contents for you.  No promises.  I stayed up until nearly 4 because…. did I mention I was quilting?  And I was on a roll.

Some things never change.  Not the quilting, silly…. the staying up until 4!  And today binding is on my agenda.  I’m gonna finish a quilt at this retreat if it kills me.

There’s a first time for everything, eh?
Hugs,
Barb
